Reinforced collaboration between IHP and EU

A closer cooperation between IHP and the European Union, DG ECHO, provides opportunites for strengthened European disaster management capacity.
On 7 May 2015 the eight members of IHP signed a letter of intent with EU, DG ECHO, with the ambition to strengthen the collaboration. The cooperation intends to enhance the dialogue, coordination, information sharing between the entities, as well as further foster better preparedness, capacity building and innovation as well as exploring technical assistance to the EERC/Voluntary pool. The letter was signed in Brussels by DG ECHO Mr. Claus Sørensen and representatives of the IHP during the European Civil Protection Forum. UN OCHA which acts as the IHP secretariat attended the ceremony the role of the United Nations in coordinating relief assistance was emphasized.
